How would you convey who you are solely through literary devices?
It's impossible to convey ones life though text. A life is a 3-D experience, and writing can only deliver a 2-D point of view. But, I have found literary devices can act as a platform as to describe what normally couldn't be described. Using literary devices that don't quite romanticize, but more portray what I see me life as being, I am able to give an accrue representation of who I am, and what I stand for.
List the major steps of the project:
I started by defining the required literary devices and finding story that matched their meanings to how I saw myself. Next I took plain white paper and water color and designed borders for each section that I would be putting on my board. Then I printed out each section and glued them onto the borders that I made, then put them on my poster. Next, I used my Polaroid instant camera to take several pictures of myself with things that I liked. Finally, pasted the pictures onto a vinyl record (representing my passion for music) and put the vinyl on my board.
About Yourself: 1. What is the most important thing you learned in this project?
I learned it is easier to romanticize or dramatize my life than it is to tell the plain and boring truth.
2. What do you wish you had spent more time on or done differently?
I wish I had made my paragraphs shorter, I almost wasn't able to fit everything on the board.
3. What part of the project did you do your best work on?
I think my best work was the writing of the paragraphs. I put a lot of effort and truth in my words, I chose each one specifically to fit the need of the situation and I was able to create something that I was very proud of.
About the Project: 4. What was the most enjoyable part of this project:
I enjoyed the assemble of the poster, I like organizing everything so that it looks nice but simple.
5. What was the least enjoyable part of this project?
I didn't like the way we did the gallery walk. It was very hot and sunny outside, It was hard to see the work and I felt like everyone was more focused on going back inside than they were at looking at the work.
6. How could your teacher(s) change this project to make it better next time?
Next time, I would recommend you have everyone stand up and share something about their work to the class rather than have a gallery walk.
