Reflection:
It is obvious that my artistic abilities grew during this project. Before this, I had never used water color before, so, obviously I didn't know to use them correctly. At first, I used the watercolor like acrylic paint. I put a lot of water on each color and got a very rich full color to put on the paper. Although my first draft looked nice, it didn't look like watercolor. Also, the images I chose for this project were in black and white, but I tried to do my first draft in color, guessing what the actual color would look like. I then got critique on this by three peers and Mr. Sevilla. All three peers said that there was nothing I should change and they liked the idea that I had. When I asked Mr. Sevilla, he said that although it looks very nice, I used the paint completely wrong. I used the watercolor as acrylic paint instead of watercolor paint, so, he told me to use less paint and add more water. For my second draft, I decided to stick to the the color scheme of the pictures. When I began the second painting, I still wasn't completely sure how to correctly use water color, but I knew I had to add more water, so thats what I did. I still used the paint as acrylic, but this time I added more water, just making more of the paint that I was still using wrong. When I began on one section of painting, Mr. Sevilla noticed I was still doing it wrong and showed me how to do water color correctly. After that, I was able to finish the painting the correct way. After finishing my second draft, I got another round of critique. This time, everyone said that they liked my design in black and white, and they liked it in color, so I should try combining them for my third draft. For my final draft, I did one component in black and white, and the other in color. I have definitely improved during this project, which has both improved my artistically abilities, and made me more confident with my work.
