This piece is titled "The Major Histocompatibility Complex" and it is centered around the idea of identity and self. The major histocompatibility complex is a part of the cell that identifies it as your cell and prevents the immune system from confusion with antigens. The idea behind this piece self expression and using elements of creativity to show non typical parts of one's self. In the foreground is a portrait of the Birth of Venus, one of my favorite paintings, to represent the self. Behind her is a collage of different seemingly random items all in bright color that represent the intricate different details about an individual.
