Today my class and I saw several different types of art. First, we saw street art, then Mexican murals, and finally modern art. My personal favorite was the street art. I like street art because I feel it's the best way to get a message across. For example, today at Writerz Blok I saw a lot of political art made by my peers, and it is pretty obvious what each piece means while also having hidden messages. At the museum of art, I couldn't understand what each thing meant unless it was explained to me, modern art must not be my strong suit. My favorite piece of political art was the stencil made by Maceii. It was a picture of a woman with a caption reading 'No matter what she is wearing, she isn't asking for it." I really like this because it addresses the matter of victim blaming, one I am very passionate about, it is also simple, but gets the point across well.
