This year, I want to be able to balance a healthy lifestyle with a healthy academic and personal life; I think ISPE will help me achieve that. Upon having to move to ISPE due to a scheduling error, I realized I would have to take my exercise and motivation more seriously. In the past, I have relied mostly on being told what to do and when to do it in regards to exercise. In the past, I have gotten the majority of my physical activity through club volleyball. Since I am no longer on a club team, I’m determined to become more independent with my physical activity. Every week, I will be going to the gym at a minimum of three times. On top of that, every night I will be (and have been for a while) jogging around my city with my baby sister in order to put her to sleep. I moved to Napa from Southern California two days before school started, and I didn’t move into my actual house until the first of September. Because of this, my first time sheet consisted completely of jogging/running through my city and a wooded trail by my house since it was all I had access to. I want to move above this minimum level of physical activity as soon as possible, and take my exercise regime more seriously.
Starting in the next two weeks, I am going to begin seeing a personal trainer several times a week. This will help me keep on track and keep motivated to exercise. I hope the lifestyle that will arise will propel me into an overall happier, and healthier life. More frequent exercise will lead to me sleeping better, staying better hydrated, help boost my energy, and improve my mood. I have known the benefits of exercise for years, yet the extent of the exercise I commit would be rollerskating every other day for an hour and walking/jogging with my family. I have alway found excuses stopping me from getting a trainer or going to the gym. I would always think I wouldn’t find time or I wouldn’t be able to get all my school work done. But, I realize that spending an hour or so a day working out won’t be a major time consumer on my day, and the positives outweigh any negatives.
I hope that by the time the end of the year comes, I will be maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Joining Independ PE is a step in the right direction in a way that it provides motivation, if i can't summon it myself. When I have nothing to do, I will think, “Okay, right now I can either watch TV or go online, or walk down the street to the gym.” Knowing that I will be graded on my decision, and considering the fact that I am actively working to better my life in any way possible, I will have the motivation and resources to make the better choice. I feel that joining Independent PE will improve my life in many ways. I will spend my time making healthier choices, and I will work hard to be a better person. There is a lot that I want to take from Independent PE, by the end of the year, I am determined to be a healthier person.
