Assignment M
Scenario A:
We, as the United Nations, want to ensure the people of Ethiopia are being treated fairly and are exposed to equal opportunity. To ensure the richest men are not being favored, we require census data proving that the illiteracy rate is dropping as is the mortality rate from curable illnesses. We are willing to comply to your reasonable requests and are willing to provide bonuses to communities that show to have lower birth rates. Families with under three children will receive extra money or resources from the UN. Of these families, those who educate their children will receive higher rewards. Hopefully, the nation of Ethiopia are willing to comply to our requests and will not rebel against the newly educated. In addition, the positive influence of the UN in Ethiopia will encourage neighboring countries to comply as well.
Scenario B:
We, the nation of Ethiopia, are coming to the honorable United Nations to ask for assistance for our people. Despite our highly patriarchal society and low education rate, we are willing to compromise as to help our community and people. We have three main requests, which ever the UN is most responsive to we are willing to further explore. First, we request funding for a water treatment/ desalination plant. Such a plant would help the people of Ethiopia’s agricultural community as well as the lives of everyday people. In return, to prove to the UN that we are willing to prevent corruption, we will give total control of the facility to the United Nations. Our second request is medical supplies and money in trade for a compliance agreement. We will comply with the requests of the UN and sign a treaty to treat our people more fairly. We will set up more schools with the money provided and will help lower the illiteracy race of the lower class. Finally, our third request is a hospital facility under control and supplement of the UN. You would control the admittance as to ensure equal opportunity for the health of the people of Ethiopia. Thank you for considering our requests.
